With films like Justice League and Wonder Woman set to be released in 2017, this is the year Warner Brothers is hoping the DC Extended Universe will finally find it's feet, But it's the hopes of a solo Batman film directed by Ben Affleck that have many excited. With Afflecks' depiction of Batman in 'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice' getting fans raving world wide, it has everyone wondering just how great a solo Batman film by the Academy Award winning film director could be.
But it is Affleck himself who has come out of the shadows to say, that although the film has a loose confirmation release for 2018, that no matter what the studio has planned he will not direct a "mediocre" film. He has stated in the past that "the film is on the right track" but it's a recent interview with 'The Guardian', that has put doubts in the films future.

Affleck was interviewed by 'The Guardian' to discuss his career and his newest film 'Live By Night', But as the interview progressed the topic turned to the progress of 'The Batman'. Affleck is set to star and direct in the film, but he says that's far from inevitable:
“It’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it.”
With all signs pointing towards the films production starting this spring in the past, this is not the news fans were wanting to hear. We can only hope that Affleck was voicing some of his minor concerns and that 'The Batman' will go ahead as planned.
