Rights Issues Puts TNT's 'TALES FROM THE CRYPT' Series In Jeopardy

It was announced earlier this year that TNT had given the green light to its remake of Tales from the Crypt with a first season consisting of 10 episodes. With horror director M. Night Shyamalan developing the series pilot it had seemed like all was going ahead for the show, which was set to launch for the networks upcoming Horror Block to launch in 2017 with fellow series Time of death and creatures. But then our hopes were put on hold when news was no longer being released about the series and rumours were floating around that the series had been cancelled.
Now although it has been confirmed that the series is yet to be cancelled, the news that has been released isn't exactly promising either. It seems that TNT is currently having issues gaining the rights to the property, which is based on the 1950s comic.
A TNT representative released the following statement on the matter
“The underlying rights to this classic, vintage property are complicated. TNT and others have been pursuing a solution for more than a year, with significant progress being made. We look forward to the potential for further active development of this valuable franchise once the clearance process is fully resolved.”
Unfortunately there is no time frame for when the issues will be resolved and with Tales From The Crypt hanging in the air, there is also no news on the other 2 shows, that were also to be released in the proposed horror block for TNT to be launched next year. It is possible that it will now be held off until Tales From The Crypt has the go ahead again which looks like it won't be any time soon.
